Random Thoughts on a Thursday Afternoon

Steve was out in the middle of the yard and I asked Annabelle to tell him it was time to eat. She runs to the end of the deck and yells, "Daddy, EAT TIME!"

She changed the words of the song to Twinkle, Twinkle, Uh, Uh, Moon.

Last night

Annabelle followed me with her popper and "vacuumed" the EXACT same spots as I did.

I wonder what Ozzie would think...

...if he ran into one of these on a New York Street.

It comes to life when the train passes by underneath.

Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

I took Annabelle into town in the afternoon to do some errands. I pull her out of the carseat and she tells me "Walk!" "Okay, you can walk when we get inside the store." I thought she forgot, because the whole time we were in the store she was just fine with me holding her, but when we got back to the car.. "No, mama. Walk!" Uh, I guess I did make that promise. So we went for a walk. A very slow one. Down the street. Back up the street. Then I remembered Steve and I had been meaning to get her a puzzle, so I steered her inside the bookstore. "

Which puzzle do you want Annabelle?
THEESE.
Well that one says three and up, how about this one?
No.
How about this nice one?
Nnnnnnno.
Oooooo look, this one looks fun!
NnnnnnnnoooOOOOOOOOOO. THEESE!

So I bought the one she wanted. She has an iron grip on the puzzle the whole way home. She held it the entire way through the grocery store. When she got home she busted it out of the package and did the whole puzzle. I mean really did the whole puzzle. Three and up. Ha! Annabelle just gave you a beat down.

He can see again.

Steve has a chronic problem with taking care of his glasses. They are usually have a tragic accident within a few weeks of when he gets them. The last pair was so scratched that you could bearly see his eyes through the glasses when he wore them. Not to mention they only had one ear piece for the past year. The pair before that was completely dismembered. He ended up drilling holes through the lenses and attaching strings with pencil eraser weights to go over his ears.

Last weekend he got a new pair and I'm happy to say we are 3 days and counting without any damage. He also got contacts. He says they are great, much more comfortable to wear than glasses. A problem has arisen though. One that in my wildest dreams, I could not have anticipated. Steve's eyelashes are so long that they actually prevent the insertion of the contact lens. Even when he opens his eyes as wide as he can, the contact is still bigger than exposed part of his eye ball. The salesgirl, after Steve took 30 min to get his contacts in, suggested an eyelash curler.

New Bedtime Routine

Every night Annabelle and I sit in the rocking chair while she drinks her milk. When she is finished, she hands me the bottle and says "Ba-bye". My cue to put her in the crib and say goodnight.

One night as I turned to leave she said "Book!" So I gave her a book, turned the light on low and left the room. I stood outside and watched. She turned through the pages a few times. Then put the book aside and went to sleep.

Now she asks for a book (or two) every night. She stays up and reads her books and goes to sleep on her terms.
